Scaling and Transiting to 8-inch Production, In-house Manufacturing, and Strategic Alliances are Key Trends Shaping the Global Automotive SiC Semiconductor Industry: MIC
June 02, 2023

From the latest developments of the top five global SiC semiconductor suppliers, it is evident that trends such as scaling and transiting to 8-inch production, in-house manufacturing, and strategic alliances are shaping the overall SiC semiconductor market, according to MIC (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute).

Meanwhile, global net-zero carbon emission initiatives are also driving the development of electric vehicles. The IEA (International Energy Agency) predicated the global penetration rates of EVs (Electric Vehicles) are expected to reach 17% and 25% by 2025 and 2030, respectively.

Due to the growing importance of maximizing efficiency in consumer electronics products, the market's pursuit of semiconductor materials with low energy consumption and high performance may pave the way for the development of third-generation semiconductors, such as SiC, MIC added.

Established in 1987, MIC is a division of III (Institute for Information Industry), a major government think tank, and one of the leading IT research institutes in Taiwan.
